Getting Connected

If you own a computer, chances are that you'll want to get on the web. Austin is one of the most wired cities in the nation and, not suprisingly, there are several options for getting connected.

Use a computer lab! All students pay a technology fee as part of their tuition. A portion of that fee goes toward providing high speed Internet access for all students in the various campus computer labs, such as the iSchool IT Lab.

Looking for a cheap, reliable dial-up service? You can't beat UT's Telesys service. At $8 a month for unlimited access, you're not going to find a better deal in town. To activate your Telesys, you must first create an IF Account with the university.

Willing to pay for a high speed connection? There are a number of DSL and cable IPS's in Austin. Generally, these premium services cost around $40 per month. Yahoo! maintains a page of ISP's operating in the Austin area.
