Buying Computers and Software

Students often want to purchase a new computer or upgrade their existing computer when they begin their studies at School of Information. Fortunately, there are a number of great deals on computer hardware and software for UT students.

BevoWare - BevoWare provides the software you need to protect your computer from viruses, improve the security of your connections, browse the Web, read and send e-mail, use the campus printing system and more. Distributed by UT Austin for both Macintosh and Windows computers, BevoWare saves you money, time and trouble by offering all the products you will need in one convenient location.

Campus CompUTer Store - your one stop shop for great deals on computers, accessories and software. The Campus Computer Store offers specially priced computers from Compaq, Apple and Gateway and deeply-discounted software from Adobe, Macromedia and Microsoft.

Microsoft CD's - Microsoft has worked out an Enterprise Licensing Agreement with the university. What does this mean to you? Free software! (Well, almost. You do have to pay $5 apiece for installation CD). You won't find a better price on titles such as Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Office XP and Microsoft Visual Studio. A must for PC users.

Software Distribution Service - educational prices for a host of software titles including Dissertation/Thesis templates, SPSS, SAS and Mac OS.
