The School of Information currently offers the Standard School Librarian Certificate developed by by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) for certification of public school librarians in Texas. This certificate prepares the holder for work at all levels of public education in Texas, from kindergarten through high school. The certification program is a graduate program.

To be considered for admission, applicants must complete two applications:

  1. Application to the Graduate School of the University (GIAC)
  2. Application to the School of Information master's program: PDF | Word

Important Notes:

  • When submitting your official documents to GIAC, please allow sufficient time for GIAC to process your documents and forward them to the School of Information, who must receive them prior to the deadline date.
  • All application credentials must be received by the deadlines specified for the iSchool master's program.
  • If you already maintain a master's degree and would like to pursue certification only, you must indicate this on the GIAC online application by selecting "Non-Degree Seeker" in the degree status field.
  • Additional Important Information Concerning Nondegree Students
