Don Hamerly Successfully Defends Dissertation

Donald Wade Hamerly successfully defended his dissertation, "Minding the Verge: Moderating Webcasts & Chat in a Multi-Section Online Undergraduate Course". The Committee members are: Leslie Jarmon, DIIA, Diane Schallert, Educational Psychology, School of Information: Philip Doty, Bill Lukenbill, and Barbara Immroth, chair.

Dr. Hamerly is joining the faculty at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University in the fall as the Director, School Library Media Program. Don is an IMLS Youth, Community, Libraries Fellow. The YCL grant's goal is to prepare faculty to educate youth librarians for the 21st century public and school libraries. External mentors for the YCL Fellows are: Denise Agosto, Drexel University, Adele Fasick, San Jose State University, formerly Dean, University of Toronto, Keith Curry Lance, RSL Research Group, Susan Roman, Dean, Dominican University, Ann Weeks, University of Maryland.

Special thanks to these mentors, to IMLS for funding and to Laura Bush (University of Texas GSLIS, MLS) for whom the IMLS program was named.
