iSchool Participates in Archival Science Grant

The School of Information's top-rated Archives program is a partner in the project "Building the Future of Archival Education and Research" with the University of California, Los Angeles (lead institution), the University of Maryland, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Pittsburgh, Simmons College, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The project gathers leading archival educators to address the shortage of professors in archival science by providing at least four doctoral two-year fellowships in archival-related topics, to be supplemented by the host institution. To strengthen the growing network of archival educators in library and information science programs, this project will also develop three annual, week-long, workshops for students, faculty, and working archivists to address pedagogical techniques, research methodology, and curriculum development, as well as technical and social issues relevant to the field. Dr. Pat Galloway will lead the iSchool effort on this project.
