In the latest US News and World Reports rankings of LIS programs announced
this week, the School of Information moved from 10th place to 7th overall in
the nation. The school was ranked #1 in the nation again in Archives &
Preservation, and scored significant new successes with a #3 ranking in
Legal Librarianship, #11 in Digital Librarianship and #11 in Information
Systems. The School Library Media program ranked #16.
Dean Andrew Dillon noted "to be ranked #7 in the nation is a tremendous
achievement and is due to the excellence and hard work of our faculty. We
continue to offer the nation's best education in Archives & Preservation, we
are becoming leaders in Legal Librarianship, and are fast gaining national
recognition in important new areas of information studies."
The rankings are based on perceptions of quality provided by deans,
department chairs and select faculty from over 50 ALA-accredited programs of
Library and Information Studies.
