Libraries & Culture Receives Top Ranking
A new ranking of journal importance in the LIS field ranks Libraries &
Culture as #11 out of more than 70 journals. The survey, conducted by Tom
Nisonger and Charles Davis of Indiana University, asked deans and ARL
directors to rank journals in terms of their prestige and value for tenure
and promotion decisions. Deans ranked the journal #11, while ARL directors
ranked it #15. Libraries & Culture, edited for many years at the School of
Information by Professor Don Davis, is an interdisciplinary journal that
explores the significance of collections of recorded knowledge -- their
creation, organization, preservation, and utilization in the context of
cultural and social history. http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~landc/
