iSchool Students Aid Book FestivalStudents in three children's literature classes at the School of Information, taught by Barbara Immroth, donated many volunteer hours to the Texas Book Festival.The Freshman Seminar: FS 301 Children's Literature and the Texas Book Festival and graduate level classes INF 382E Materials for Children and INF Visual Information Resources for Youth students worked in the Children's Activities and Author Reading areas. They also assisted in the Book Signing Tent and escorted authors while learning more about children's authors and illustrators, how children react to the authors and activities and helping to raise money for Texas Public Libraries. The 2002 Texas Book Festival raised more than $80,000 distributed to 33 public libraries throughout Texas in grants of up to $2,500 for library collections. The 2003 TBF grants will be announced in the spring and awarded at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference.
