Strong iSchool Presence at IA Summit 2005

The sixth Information Architecture Summit was held in Montreal, March 3-7th and featured several iSchool presenters.

Andrew Dillon provided the closing keynote entitled "Who's afraid of the Big IA?" in which he proposed a macro view of the field as a craft-based discipline engaging in research and developing a set of ethics for practice.

Don Turnbull led a panel on IA Education that featured presentations from Peter Morville, Nancy Kaplan of the University of Baltimore, Tom Froehlich and Dave Robins of the IAKM program at Kent State, and Andrew Dillon from UT. Spread over two consecutive sessions, this panel drew more than 50 people on Sunday morning to engage in a lively discussion of the future of education in this field.

iSchool student Prentiss Riddle was part of a winning team in the IA Slam, a real-time competition in which teams deal with a problem scenario presented to them at the start.

You can read more about the summit on various blogs, e.g.:

In all, over 400 people attended, many for the first time, and confirmed once again that this summit is the most important annual event in the IA calendar.
