GLIFOS Media Presentation

Rodrigo Arias will present his Glifos-Media toolset. Rodrigo is the husband of one of the School of Information's PhD students, Grete Pasch, who is currently the Director of New Media at the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala.

Rodrigo developed Glifos-media in response to Grete's dissatisfaction with both the expense and lack of functionality present in current rich media tools, and her desire to see a working combination of indexed and transcribed video, that was also searchable.

The Glifos-media toolset automates the production, cataloguing, digital preservation, access, and delivery of rich-media over diverse data transport platforms (Web, CDs, DVDs) and presentation devices (PCs, PDAs, Tablet PCs).

Glifos-media is currently developed using XML, and is deployed using Internet Explorer on Windows using an ActiveX plugin.
