Air Force Selects Two Harmon Papers for Key Presentations at Defense Policy Conference

Glynn Harmon was recently honored by being selected as the keynote academic speaker for the US Air Force's recent Air Mobility Command Arms Control and Counter-Proliferation Conference. The Conference was held at Scott Air Base, Illinois during the week of August 11-15, 2003. He presented two papers, titled "Predicting Major Terrorist Attacks: An Exploratory Analysis of Predecessor Event Intervals in Timelines," and "Aircraft Delivery Platforms for Biological Attack: Systems for Prevention, Detection, and Countermeasures."

His were the only two papers that Air Force officials selected for presentation at the above conference from among 74 papers previously presented at the 2002 and 2003 conferences on Unified Science & Technology for Reducing Biological Threats &Countering Terrorism. These latter conferences were sponsored by Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, The University of Texas at Austin, and the University of New Mexico. Former UT System Chancellor Hans Mark led the 2002 conference, and US Surgeon General Vice Admiral Richard Carmona led the 2003 conference.
