iSchool Receives Awards at IITAP

Letter from Dean Dillon:

Greetings --

I am delighted to announce that the School was well represented and formally recognized at the 2003 Innovative Instructional Technology Awards Program this week, where Karen Pavelka's team (Kayla Chioco, Rebecca Elder, Quinn Stewart, Brenda Gunn and I) received the Bronze Award in Resource Development for the entry on Conserving Texas History: A Digital Documentation of the Conservation Process (get a taste at: http://www.ischool.utexas.edu/~l381ss02/index.html) - eloquent testimony to the possibilities of merging the technical and traditional in a harmonious and fruitful manner!

Furthermore, Randolph Bias was honored in the 'Sharing What Works' category for his work in Integrating Real-World Practice into Usability Instruction.

Awards were presented by Executive Vice President and Provost Sheldon Ekland-Olson, and it was a pleasure for me to see such a strong School presence among the recipients: the smallest school on campus seems to have had the largest proportion of winners on the day --- well done all!
