What Is Student Resource Center - Gold?
Student Resource Center-Gold (SRC-Gold) is a searchable database of reference works, biographies, essays, overviews, primary works, and periodical articles from literary, science, health, history, and biography resources.
SRC-Gold also offers a multimedia gallery of maps, photos, images, audio, and video files.
SRC-Gold is designed for use by high-school students for both homework and in-depth research assignments.
Strengths:
Broad scope of topics and sources
Variety of media – text, images, maps, photos, audio and video

Cannot email images, video, or audio files
Cannot sort or limit by content level
Cannot email the “Mark List”

What types of searches can be done in SRC-Gold? There are many ways to search SRC-Gold:
Basic search by subject, keyword, or full text
Advanced Search
Geography & Cultures Search
History Search
Literature Search
Multimedia Gallery
Person Search
Science & Health Search
Timeline Search
How do I search by subject?
EXAMPLE: I'm writing a paper for school on women's suffrage Step 1: Type “women's suffrage” in the search term(s) box.
Step 2: Make sure the drop down box says “Search by Subject.”
Step 3: Click on the SEARCH button.
Note: Search by subject is the default search from the home page
How do I search by keyword?
EXAMPLE : I'd like to listen to Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, “I Have a Dream,” as well as read it.”
Step 1: Type “I have a dream” in the search term(s) box.
Step 2: Make sure the drop down box says “Search by Keyword.”
Step 3:
Click on the SEARCH button.

What do the search results mean?
Results are organized by type of material. Click on the different tabs to view the results for each.
Each result is identified by content level: Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced.
Each result identifies the title of the document and its source (where it came from).
Results can be saved to a “Mark List” and viewed later.
Glossary Database: A database is an organized collection of computer records. SRC-Gold is an example of a database.
Full Text: A full text resource provides access to the complete text of an item. For example, SRC-Gold provides both citations (brief references) to journal articles as well as the articles themselves.
Full Text Searching: A full text search locates your search terms anywhere in a document's text.
Keyword: The most significant words in a topic, book, article title, or record, etc.
Multimedia: Media other than text; for example, images, audio, video, maps, flags, and seals.
Primary Documents: Original material or information produced at the time an event occurred that has not been interpreted by another person. Examples of primary sources are government documents, court records, letters, diaries, speeches, etc.
Subject: Words or phrases assigned to items as a way to index the items by topic.
