August 15 - 21
Society of American Archivists Annual Meeting, New Orleans, LA

June 4, 10:30am
Meet at the south entrance / Congress Avenue doors. Join us for a tour of the Capitol led by Texas history aficionado and former State Archivist, our esteemed Dr. David B. Gracy II. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy at a picnic on the capitol grounds following the tour.

April 21, 4:00pm, SZB 556
SAA-UT Chapter meeting, open to all SAA-UT members. This will be a town hall style meeting. Please join us to discuss what you would like to see SAA-UT accomplish this year. Some topics on the agenda include ideas for Archives Week and the next Journal Club meeting, so come contribute your ideas.

April 16, 8:00am - 2:00pm
Shred Day Austin
The Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) is sponsoring Shred Day. On April 16, individuals can bring upto two file boxes of paper per household to the Austin High School parking lot. There will be shred trucks from Shred-It, Cen-Tex, and Iron Mountain to shred your documents on-site! ARMA members and SAA-UT board members will be available to help you determine what records to keep and what records may be safely discarded.

April 8, 6:30pm
Dr. Gracy is hosting the Spring Potluck at his house (2313 Tower Drive). The dinner is open to members of the SAA and iSchoolers interested in Archives, Records Management, Preservation and Conservation. Admission is one dish of something delicious. The sign-up sheet for food and guests is on the SAA-UT bulletin board on SZB 4th floor.

After the potluck, the party will be moving to Opal Devine's. Even if you can't make it to the potluck, you can still come join us at Opal's, from 9:30pm on. Opal's is located just across Mo-Pac from Dr. Gracy's place, at 700 West 6th Street (on the SW corner of 6th and Rio Grande), and has ample parking available.

March 28 - April 2
The First Annual iSchool Week!
Monday - Course Fair 3:30 - 5:30 in SZB 238

Tuesday - Tea wtih the Dean 3:00 - 4:30 in SZB 556

Wednesday - Lunch with Leaders 12:00 - 1:00 in SZB 556. Industry leaders invited by the SAA are Susan Cisco from Iron Mountain, accompanied by Anne Marie Donovan. Come meet them and discuss issues in the archives and records management world. Lunch will be provided.

Thursday - SLA hosted tour of Hoovers 2:00 - 4:00

Friday - The Edible Book Festival, 2:00 - 4:00 at CDL . Be sure to stop by and see the SAA's fabulous entry!

Saturday - Faculty and Staff Appreciation Picnic 12:00 - 2:00 at Bartholomew District Park. Please bring a potluck dish to share.

Dr. Gracy's annual barbeque/potluck is RE-scheduled for February 11th, 6:30 PM at his house (2313 Tower Drive).
As usual, the sign-up sheet for food and guests will be on the SAA-UT bulletin board on SZB 4th floor.

Archives Week was officially proclaimed on October 21, 2004 at 5PM.
The event was hosted by Mayor Will Wynn, and held at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) offices, which are located at 3700 Lake Austin Boulevard.

Archives Week 2004, October 31-November 6
Don't forget Dr. Gracy's biannual barbeque to welcome new students to the program! This semester's barbeque is set for September 10th. It is a pot luck--sign yourself up on the SAA-UT bulletin board, and write down what you'll be bringing.

The first meeting of the Journal Club will be on July 14th, 2004.
We will be discussing Peter Hirtle's article "Archives or Assets?" and the article in the Spring/Summer American Archivist regarding the Nun Study. Come one and all!
